Sameh Muthadi, CEO of RAK Properties, explains the new plans for emirate Ras Al Khaimah, including a new generation arina that combines lifestyle and sustainability
During the first edition of the World Yachting Summit in Monaco, which reunited many of the main international players in the boating industry, Daily Nautica had the pleasure of interviewing Sameh Muthadi, CEO of RAK Properties, one of the most dynamic and visionary real estate developers in the United Arab Emirates. Founded in 2005 under the auspices of His Highness, Sheik Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasami, RAK Properties has the ambitious objective of transforming Ras Al Khaimah, a city located in the northwestern part of the Persian Gulf, into a luxury destination for international boating tourism.
NEW GENERATION MARINA
“Tourism – explains Sameh Muthadi to DN – is a key factor in the development of Ras Al Khaimah. In this respect, we have taken a number of steps forward over the past few years. Historically, Ras Al Khaimah worked prominantly in the boating industry, both in sailing and sports and motor boats. Our objective, therefore, is to reignite that enthusiasm and atrtract more people who want to visit this place. We are the largest developers in the area, and we are working on a new, innovative marina that will be able to accommodate tourists from all over the world. Indeed, we are about to open a grand resort with 600 rooms, 23 restaurants and a number of mooring spaces for pleasure boaters who want to get to know this fantastic area better, an area that will be even bigger than Las Vegas.”
SUSTAINABLE BOATING
“Sustainability – notes Sameh Muthadi – guides all aspects of our business. Ras Al Khaimah, is, after all, a place where nature is the main attraction. RAK Properties have vast areas of land where we are working to preserve local flora and fauna, including flamingos and certain species of turtle. This is also the reason why many people are attracted here, so for us, it is a great added value that we need to protect and develop.”
